About Us

Love-tobegreen is based on the outskirts of Newton Abbot a busy market town in a lovely part of England, South Devon. Working as experienced florists, we are passionate about being as eco-friendly with our designs as possible.

Here at our floral design studio, we strive to practice the following eco-chic criteria:

  • We support local businesses and craft workers
  • We enjoy reviving local traditions/cultures
  • We compost all plant waste
  • We keep chemicals to a minimum using natural alternatives wherever possible
  • We use freshly cut flowers and foliage from various local growers, private estates and our own gardens as much as we can
  • We Strive to Reduce/Reuse and Recycle products
Susan

I have always had a passion for art and design, but this developed more strongly after studying a two year full time Fashion Design course in North West London. After completing the course, I began my career as a Dress Designer for a company in London’s ‘fashionable’ West End..

Later, I continued to design garments for various well known companies within the London area.

Continuing along the creative path and several years on, I ran my own bridal business designing and making wedding and bridesmaid dresses for individual clients, solely on recommendations.

After relocating from London to Devon and being surrounded by beautiful countryside & nature, drawing on a strong design background, I moved on to develop another passion of mine ...
...to design with flowers!
After gaining qualifications in Floral Art, Floristry, Contemporary Floral Design & Teaching, Susan was employed by Devon County Council working as a part time tutor at Newton Abbot Adult & Community Learning Centre. She taught her subjects for nearly nine years, teaching accredited and recreational courses in floristry, flower arranging and floral design.

During these years, apart from her part time teaching, Susan created a wide range of floral designs for clients for many events and special occasions, the vast majority being weddings.

Now, due to the demand for her floral designs, Susan has recently finished her teaching with Devon Adult and Community Learning in order to concentrate completely on her floral business. She has recently trained her highly artistic daughter Laura, in the field of floristry and Laura has joined Susan in the business, so now they are a 'floral design duo!'

Laura
Laura has 10 years experience in Retail Management working in the Fashion and Beauty industries. Throughout these years Laura has gained excellent customer service skills and being customer focused is paramount to her. She strives to work always to the highest of standards.

Laura also has an amazing natural ability to be creative. Throughout her childhood her art work continually showed as her favourite school subject and after her Art studies in 6th form she achieved an A-level in this subject.

When indulging in her interest in floral design and with her passion for art and nature, Laura creates her own 'artistic drama' with flowers. She loves creating designs that enhance the grace and beauty of each flower. Her designs are imaginative and like nature, constantly surprising. Her young, bright approach to floral design is an inspiration to Susan.
